When I See Your Face

An upbeat love song with a happy ending.

Recorded in New Zealand, Mixed in Australia and Mastered in the USA by multi Grammy Award engineers Greg Calbi and Steve Fallone.

The story line is about reconnecting with someone you love. Time has passed and the world has changed during the Covid-19 pandemic, but there is still a longing to reconnect. The inspiration came from thousands of lovers separated from border lockdowns. As the borders are open up around the world millions of people will start reconnecting with loved ones and this is one of those stories.

The Music video release takes it artistry and direction from New Zealand’s own music guru the late Dylan Tait.

Song Lyrics

When I See Your Face by Merv Pinny ©

When I see your face
it makes me want to smile
Cause I ain’t seen your face
for many years now
You said when you went away
That you won’t be coming back again

When I see your face
it makes me want to smile again
I heard that you fell in love
And he knocked you off your feet
Your mum was so proud
But she didn’t like me anyway
Then he ran away
He broke your heart and left you crying

When I see your face
It makes me want to smile again
I heard about your little girl
She is only five years old
It must have been real hard
All them days in lockdown babe
I watched you playing
and I seen the love in your eyes

When I see your face
It makes me want to smile again
Maybe just you and I
can catch up on old times
because I ain’t seen your face
for many years now

Oh and it makes me want to smile
Oh and it makes me want to smile again
I know that you are feeling sad
And it may take a little while
But when I see your face
it makes me want to smile again
