Too Much White Too Much Red Song

Too Much White Too Much Red

Merv Pinny’s latest track takes a light-hearted look at the excesses of drinking while in lockdown

Noticing how quickly supermarkets were running out of wine and seeing all of the empties piling up in bins around town, Merv Pinny felt inspired to write about the effect lockdowns have had on our drinking habits. Night after night of drinking too much white and too much red – there really is no escaping the dreaded hangover and sleep deprivation to come. Multiple cups of coffee are in order
and perhaps some helpful drinking advice from a friend…

Continuing with his happy theme of late, Too Much White, Too Much Red has Merv’s soulful vocals matched with a funky groove and a raunchy sax solo. Collaborating again with multi-Grammy award-winning engineers Greg Calbi and Steve Fallone, Pinny has produced yet another toe-tapping tune that his fans will love.

Too Much White, Too Much Red will be released on Spotify, iTunes and Apple Music on November
23rd.

New album set for release in early 2022

This latest single by Merv Pinny will feature in his brand new album, set for release in 2022. Titled Dark to Light, the album follows Pinny’s journey as an artist with songs that have captured the imaginations of millions from across the globe. War; humanitarian crises with children; refugee crises; the cruel world of love on the internet; and gun violence have been the topics that Pinny felt compelled to write about in the hope of invoking change for the better. Seeing the effects that both money and power had had on so many of these devastating events, Pinny used his songs to help give more meaning and donated proceeds direct to World Vision and Children in Crisis. Just this month, Merv performed for Kerikeri locals as part of a fundraising event for the Northland Rescue Helicopter, helping to raise more than $15,000.

Our entire world has now been affected since the pandemic started in 2020, filling lives with heartbreak and sadness as we all have learned to live in new ways. Merv recognised the importance during this time to have more positive and uplifting experiences, so he started writing new material that has been crafted to instill in everyone a much-needed feeling of joy and laughter, with the hope yet again of using his music to invoke change for the better. Dark to Light celebrates the significant journey of an artist who has evolved over the years, cleverly creating music for the moment.

Song Lyrics

When I See Your Face by Merv Pinny ©

When I see your face
it makes me want to smile
Cause I ain’t seen your face
for many years now
You said when you went away
That you won’t be coming back again

When I see your face
it makes me want to smile again
I heard that you fell in love
And he knocked you off your feet
Your mum was so proud
But she didn’t like me anyway
Then he ran away
He broke your heart and left you crying

When I see your face
It makes me want to smile again
I heard about your little girl
She is only five years old
It must have been real hard
All them days in lockdown babe
I watched you playing
and I seen the love in your eyes

When I see your face
It makes me want to smile again
Maybe just you and I
can catch up on old times
because I ain’t seen your face
for many years now

Oh and it makes me want to smile
Oh and it makes me want to smile again
I know that you are feeling sad
And it may take a little while
But when I see your face
it makes me want to smile again

Pink Elephants Song

Pink Elephants

Following on from his single Lover released late last year, award-winning social action rocker Merv Pinny is back with his latest track Pink Elephants this month.

Both singles share a similar theme about social media and the effect that this very powerful medium has on our lives, especially for our younger generations.

As the name suggests, Pink Elephants is about a world of make believe – fantasy vs reality – which Pinny says is happening constantly on social media, playing a part in why it is so addictive. How do we know anything is real anymore? So, can pink elephants fly? Have a few drinks and then have another think about it.

This upbeat rock song mastered by Grammy award-winning engineer Gary Calbi is an excellent addition to Pinny’s growing collection of top-streaming singles.

Lover Song

Lover

Merv Pinny writes about the effect of social media on new relationships with his latest rock song “Lover”

Entering into a new relationship and experiencing the heady emotions and feelings this brings can be a rollercoaster of passion, excitement and fun, but it can also have a dark side.

The role of social media can have a huge impact on these new relationships, with the highs and the lows replayed across the net for everyone to see. In a young person’s life, this exposure can be incredibly confronting, while the consequences of their actions and choices can impact on their lives and relationships for what sometimes can feel like an excruciatingly long time.

“Lover” addresses this prevalent issue, with questions a young person may contemplate when they meet a new lover. “Will this relationship take me to heaven or will I wake up in hell?”. For some, this can seem too much to deal with, and they are left only with the question “What do they want from me?”.

This latest track from Merv Pinny was mastered by multi Grammy award-winning engineer Gary Calbi and takes Pinny back to his rock roots.

After decades of writing, producing and playing music, Pinny has garnered a reputation as a talented musician who continues to evolve his music, crossing genres, and releasing songs that strike a chord with his listeners across the globe.

His most recent single Bourbon Baby flew up the charts, making it to No 4 on iTunes Top 200 country tracks in New Zealand; is currently played on over 50 radio stations in the United States; and is now gaining new audiences across Europe and Australasia.

Song Lyrics

Little Demons by Merv Pinny ©

Welcome to Your broken dream
Where demons laugh
and angels cry
You live your life
with no regrets
I’ve seen the future
A blood moon sky

Little demons they haunt you
Little demons run for your life

I walk the valley
of twisted minds
world looks on
with their broken eyes
Little demons they haunt you
Little demons run for your life

Run run, Run for your life
Run run run, Run for your life
Run run run, Run for your life

The intense build up from this alternative rock track and the captivating guitar riff with driving drum rhythm make this track one of the most  interesting pieces of music about the twisted minds behind the school shootings. It is protest song about gun violence and the increasing number of school shootings the world has experienced and the horror of broken dreams. This song adds a voice to the need for more gun control.

    Little Demons

A song about the Little Demons that haunt the twisted minds, mental illness and a mind driven insane by drug abuse. Sometimes they are hidden from everyone that surrounds them, others see it happening and say nothing until it’s too late, and the world experiences the horror of a broken dream.

    Feel Like a Prisoner Song

    Feel Like a Prisoner

    3.4 Million YouTube Views

A viral hit on YouTube with an emotional performance from the Kiwi Rocker Merv Pinny. It’s modern sound makes this a winner for Radio.

This Song was inspired by the division created by President Trump, when he decided to build a wall between Mexico and The United States of America. I couldn’t help thinking about all the people that would be affected, many with families on both sides of the wall. We have seen other walls built through history and they have led to great resentment between countries and their people. I also thought it very appropriate to make this song part 3 of my trilogy on world issues today, as barriers are going up all over the world. I wanted to capture the feeling that we have all had at some point in our lives, of being trapped in a situation that you are powerless to change.

The song starts with a mood setting, nylon string guitar played by Jazz Master Ray Walker, from Perth, followed by an onslaught of Merv’s heavy rock guitar sounds and an emotional performance on Vocals. The music video opens with picturesque views of Mexico, followed by heavy construction machinery and footage of Alcatraz prison, a story of imprisonment, escape and finding freedom.

    SONG LYRICS

Feel Like a Prisoner by Merv Pinny ©

    I feel like a prisoner
    Locked behind this wall
    I wanna see the sunrise
Just one more time, before I have to leave

    The people they’re all talking
And they all wanna see me fall
And I, I won’t show them any pain
Even though I’m hurting deep inside my soul

    I feel like a prisoner!
    I feel like a prisoner!
    Locked behind this wall…
    I feel like a prisoner!
    I feel like a prisoner!
    Locked behind this wall…

    Why can’t I say
    This pain in my heart
    You breakin me down
    And I can’t go on…
    Learning where I belong

I feel it in my soul!

    I feel like a prisoner!
    I feel like a prisoner!
    I feel like a prisoner!
    Locked behind this wall…
    I feel like a prisoner!
    I feel like a prisoner!
    Locked behind this wall
